I have over thirty years of experience working closely with creative professionals, producers, art directors, and designers and alongside film crews for various advertising agencies, design firms, and corporations. Clients include Lily, RCA, Delta Faucet, Hunt Construction, Rolls-Royce, Major Tool, Random House, the National Writing Project, and IU Health, among many others. I’ve had the good fortune of working with many diverse clients. These experiences have enabled me to develop and hone my technical, creative, and post-production skills (but I’d be remiss if I didn’t pay homage to my early mentor, Carter Allen, who shared with me everything he knew.)

My work has taken me into magnesium foundries, up in hot air balloons and helicopters, onto roller coasters, white-water rafting, trackside at the Indy 500 and onto the Lucas Oil Stadium construction site, and various other projects around the country. I’ve captured lifestyle images with professional talent and everyday heroes and taken portraits and lifestyle images for corporate clients that covered everyone from essential workers to middle management to the boardroom C-suite executives for use in their advertising, healthcare, corporate, and editorial projects. Notable publications that have featured my work include ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated, and Forbes

I grew up curious in a small Mid-Western farm town with its version of pedigree and accolades. I am one of 7 children, the son and grandson of generational grocers. I wasn't quite a farmer, and I wasn't quite a "city-slicker"…always somewhere in between. I often dreamed about leaving the little town that would forever shape my perspective. I joined the US Navy, which opened my eyes to a new world and solidified photography as my means of discovery and expression—the four years I was in the Navy brought the loss of my mother to cancer and two of my closest friends to gun violence, and my dad closing the store. In those years, I also added a wife to my life, with whom I have two sons, all of whom I am incredibly proud.

Yet somehow, my early experiences with the characters in that tiny town– the farmers in the back of the store, smoking their pipes, chewing their cigars and complaining about the weather and the government;  the postmaster; the shop owners; Gladys, (who always called me Drool instead of Drew); and so many others. They, along with the interior and exterior spaces, still inspire my work.

Photography is what I do. It's been “what I do” since I first picked up my mother's Polaroid and began photographing my friends, mostly posing with their guitars, bikes, or cars. Those Polaroids  all perished, along with many other family pictures in a fire that destroyed our two-story Victorian home–an experience I believe somehow also informs my work. Time erases everything unless we leave evidence. Time is infinite. We pass through it, but those we pass through it with, are finite. Collectively, we create our stories.

I am a recipient of a Creative Renewal Grant from the Indiana Arts Council and numerous awards from APA and ASMP. I’ve been in group shows in Chicago, Indianapolis, New York, LA, and San Francisco. My fine art works hang in many private homes.

I look forward to meeting you!
